The Upward Spiral: Getting Out of a Funk

I’ve been in a funk for just over 2 weeks now with exercise — not feeling motivated to get to the gym. It’s only now, today, after I managed to get myself there and get a sweat on that I can see the light.

Feeling Down in the Dumps

For the last few weeks, I haven’t been myself and I certainly haven’t found the enthusiasm to exercise or do my physio. I kept telling myself things like:

There’s no point in working out today. You’re feeling tired, so you won’t have a good workout. Better to rest. Be kind to yourself. Wait until you have more energy and go then.

I wonder if you recognise similar thought patterns.

I’m all for rest and self-care, and I imagine that many people don’t do enough of that stuff. But it’s interesting just how much of how you feel comes down to perspective and momentum.
