Teachers on Strike: The Ugly Truth Behind Our Shameless Demands!
To the sceptical, ignorant, or obstinate opposition to the teacher strikes: Here are my reasons for marching on Westminster and a call to action to save a declining education system.
On Thursday, we take to the streets for the second time to put pressure on the Government to increase school funding and staff pay.
We aren’t just doing it for a day off!
I hate crowds of people. I panic slightly sometimes: Going shopping exhausts me to my core; I’ve never once been to Notting Hill Carnival despite friends going every year; and I stay near the edges at festivals for the most part.
I’m not political and being totally honest I do roll my eyes at some Union sentiment (despite being a member of it). Ironically, I was tempted to get on top of my workload on the last strike day (despite not being paid) as it seemed a golden opportunity.
I stuck to my principles in the end.
The idea of taking a day off of work, unpaid, to get up at the same time to attend a march in central London amongst thousands of people was not something that I was excited about.
